Privacy

The short version: reading this site sends nothing about you to anyone else, and a tip you send us is used to check a story, not to build a profile of you.

Reading the site

• Pages here make no requests to third-party services. Fonts are served from this site; there are no external scripts, no analytics tags, no social media embeds and no tracking pixels.
• We do not set cookies for reading, and there is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to.
• Links in stories point at the primary sources we cite. Following one takes you to that organisation's site under its own privacy practices.
• Our hosting infrastructure keeps ordinary operational logs (such as request counts and error records) needed to run the service.
• We keep a count of our own: one row per page view, holding the page, the country, phone or desktop, whether it was a crawler, and which page of this site sent you here if one did. No cookie, no IP address, no user-agent string, so it cannot identify you or tell a returning reader from a new one. From another site we keep only that site's name, never the address or what you searched for.

Sending a tip, correction or enquiry

• Name and email are optional on tips and corrections. If you leave them blank, we have no way to identify you and no interest in trying.
• What you send is stored securely, is read to verify and pursue stories, and is never published or shared. Verification runs against primary sources; the existence of a tip is never itself treated as evidence.
• Attached files are stored privately and deleted automatically after 30 days.
• Advertising enquiries ask for contact details because they are a business conversation; those details are used only to respond.
